BuildGreen Atlantic is a conference, trade show and networking event that advances the design, construction, and operation of greener buildings in Atlantic Canada.

Presenters will be notified following the BuildGreen Atlantic organizing committee’s program review in January 2027.

Across Atlantic Canada, ambitious climate, energy and building-performance goals are increasingly being translated into real projects, policies, technologies and practices. The challenge now is not only to accelerate that action, but to demonstrate its impact and build the knowledge, capacity and resilience needed for what comes next.

Under the 2027 theme, Ambition. Action. Impact. — Advancing a resilient built environment in Atlantic Canada, BuildGreen Atlantic is looking for the people, projects and ideas demonstrating how our region is moving toward a more sustainable, low-carbon and resilient built environment.

Have you or your organization completed an innovative project, implemented a new approach, overcome a practical challenge, deployed a technology or developed a program that others in the building sector can learn from? We want to hear about the ambition that drove your work, the action you took, the impact you achieved and the lessons others can apply.

The BuildGreen Atlantic organizing committee is seeking project profiles, case studies, technical presentations, product and technology demonstrations, construction best practices, workshops and building tours addressing the full spectrum of sustainable building—from residential projects to large commercial, institutional and industrial buildings.

BuildGreen Atlantic 2027 will be held at the Halifax Convention Centre on April 12 & 13, 2027. April 12 will feature pre-conference training workshops and tours of local high-performance buildings, followed by the Opening Reception. April 13 will feature the main conference and tradeshow.

Both days will bring together building owners, architects, engineers, designers, contractors, trades professionals, manufacturers and suppliers, policymakers, students and other members of Atlantic Canada’s green building community. Content will address both new construction and the retrofit and adaptation of existing buildings.

Abstracts for Conference Presentations

For 2027, we are looking for presentations that demonstrate how ambition is being translated into action—and how that action is creating meaningful impact.

We want to hear from practitioners who are putting better building practices into action: projects that have been completed or are underway, technologies that have been deployed, policies and programs being implemented, and approaches that are improving the performance and resilience of our built environment.

We are particularly interested in real-world experience. What was the objective? What did you do? What challenges did you encounter? What worked—or didn’t? What impact have you been able to demonstrate? And what can others learn from your experience?

Preference will be given to presentations that provide practical insights, demonstrated outcomes and transferable lessons that attendees can apply to their own projects, organizations and communities.

Submit a 300–400 word abstract through this LINK that includes a title, describes the presentation topic and key takeaways, identifies the proposed speaker(s), and indicates your willingness to collaborate with other presenters where appropriate. Please include links to online audio/video of presenters, if available, and examples of other groups or conferences where you have presented.
Submit a 150-word profile or bio for each presenter demonstrating relevant professional experience.
Presentations should be educational and must limit corporate or promotional messaging. This is not a sales pitch.
Successful presenters must provide proof of ownership or permission to use images included in their presentations.
Please identify any CEUs or professional learning credits for which the presentation has already been approved.

Building Tours

We are looking for local examples of ambition, action and impact in the built environment.

Please submit suggestions for buildings and projects in the Halifax area suitable for tour groups of approximately 15–20 people. Tours should highlight sustainability, resilience, high-performance design, construction or operations and provide participants with practical insights into the strategies, technologies and decisions behind the project.

We are particularly interested in projects where participants can see solutions in action and understand their impact on building performance, energy use, carbon emissions, resilience, occupant experience or other measurable outcomes.

Tours should be led by facility staff, owners, design or construction professionals, or others with direct knowledge of the building and its performance.

Workshops

Continuing education is an important part of BuildGreen Atlantic. We are seeking half-day and full-day workshops that provide practical, in-depth learning relevant to Atlantic Canada’s building sector.

We are particularly interested in workshops that give participants the knowledge, tools and skills needed to turn ambition into action and deliver better-performing, lower-carbon and more resilient buildings.

Submit a 300–400 word abstract through this LINK that includes a title, workshop description, learning objectives and intended audience.
Submit a 150-word profile or bio for each faculty member demonstrating relevant professional experience.
Identify any costs associated with workshop delivery, including faculty and/or licensing fees.
Identify any CEUs or professional learning credits for which the workshop has been approved.
Final workshop materials must be submitted electronically no later than one week before the event.
